Understanding the role of pharmacogenomics is key to ensuring medication efficacy and achieving optimal patient outcomes. This webinar will provide a framework for applying pharmacogenomic information to prescribing decisions through the integration of case-based examples across specialties and by providing a walkthrough of key pharmacogenomic references. Guideline-based recommendations will be discussed across various health topics, including cardiovascular health, infectious disease, neurology, and psychiatry. Attendees can expect to learn more about how pharmacological variability can impact medication efficacy, how to interpret and apply pharmacogenomic information in clinical practice, and how to navigate key pharmacogenomic references.
Presenter
Victoria Serra is a Pharm.D. Candidate in the Class of 2027 at the McWhorter School of Pharmacy at Samford University. Originally from Bayou La Batre, Alabama, she has resided in Birmingham since 2019. Victoria earned both a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2023. She is currently a third-year pharmacy student with academic and professional interests in infectious disease, neurology, and pharmacokinetics. As a first-year AHEC Scholar, she is committed to advancing healthcare access and improving outcomes for individuals and communities in rural Alabama.
